Alpha Particle

Alpha particles consist of two protons and two neutrons. They are emitted by radioactive nuclei such as uranium or radium in a process known as alpha decay. The alpha particle has a very short range in air and a very low ability to penetrate other materials, but it has a strong ability to ionize materials.
