Los Alamos National Laboratory

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) (previously known at various times as Site Y, Los Alamos Laboratory, and Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory) sits atop a mesa in northern New Mexico,and was founded as part of the Manhattan Project. In addition to designed the first atomic bomb, the first hydrogen bomb was also designed there.
